GUIDE TO brazil offers you a great opportunity to book a cheap car rental so you can spend your money and time wisely. Visit enchanting Brazil, a tropical country of 3.29 million square miles, 209 million people and immense culture. Book a great deal for a rental car with and the country is yours to explore. At the very least, you must visit Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, and the beaches of Ipanema, each with its own unique offering.

The Portuguese colonized Brazil at the beginning of the 16th century (1500 A.D.), and maintained the colony until the early 19th century when the monarchy of the “Empire of Brazil” declared its independence on September 7, 1822. The monarchy would last a brief 67 years until 1889 when a military coup helped establish the First Brazilian Republic. As with the history of virtually any colonization, the 2000 or so indigenous tribes were slowly decimated through disease and forced labor, and systematically displaced by descendants of colonial settlers, post-colonial immigrants, and African slaves. During the period of colonization, lands were ceded to Portuguese nobles but the experiment in land administration failed due to mismanagement and shortsightedness caused by Portugal’s greater emphasis on its trade with India, East Indies and China. Finally, recognizing Brazil’s natural riches, and the need to secure it from privateers and others, including the Dutch, Portugal began capitalizing on the natural resources of Brazil. Sugar plantations and gold mining were established and later, coffee and rubber trade would be developed. The labor needs of these industries resulted in the influx of slave trade which was not abolished until 1888 (after more than 4 million trafficked). Today, Brazil is an export-oriented economy, shipping raw material and intermediate products mostly soy beans, corn, beef, iron, copper, ore, oil, coffee and cotton.

Brazil occupies half of South America so it is no wonder that it has five climatic zones and climate which varies from region to region. That having been said, for the most part, the county’s climate is essentially humid and subtropical with rain throughout the year. Brazil’s location south of the equator means that its seasonal patterns are the opposite of those in the north. Winter takes place during June, July and August. Spring is in season September through November. Summer and Fall, take place during December through February, and March through May, respectively. Whatever the season or climate zone, be sure to pack light clothing and light weatherproof outerwear which can double as protective warmth if you visit the cooler mountainous or wet areas. Of course, this is Brazil, so swimwear is also a must for the lovely beaches.

RIO DE JANEIRO: The major landmarks to visit in Rio include Christ the Redeemer, a 39 meter tall statue, sitting atop the Corcovado Mountain, christened in 1931 and voted one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in 2007, and Sugar Loaf Mountain where you can get a bird’s eye view of Rio, see a beautiful sunset and at night, see the light show as the city comes to life. If you intend to visit Brazil just before Lent, make sure you schedule in the Carnaval in Sambodromo, the world’s most colorful and vibrant week-long street party and parade. It’s the Latin culture’s Mardi Gras. Your life will never be as full as when you party during Carnaval. Don’t forget the city sites such as the Metropolitan Cathedral with its unique pyramid architecture, Cinelandia Square, to visit historic cultural buildings such as the Municipal Theater, the National Museum of Fine Arts, and the National Library.
